Situated in the River Anoia valley, Can Macià is the historical name of the estate where the Bohigas wine cellar and vineyards have always been.
Here, in Can Macià, the family have, for over four centuries, maintained the wine growing tradition . On over 60 hectares of level land at a reasonable altitude and watered by the River Anoia they grow the varieties of grape: Macabeo, Xarel.lo, Parellada and Chardonnay. By carrying out the wine making process on their own estate Bohigas can offer you the fine cavas that they are reknowned for. Also the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cariñena grow in estates belonging to us.

With over 600 years of history, Can Macià is, beyond doubt, one of the oldest country estates in Catalonia. Widely acknowledged for the elegance of its buildings, the Masia (Catalan country house) style family mansion is home to many pieces of antique furniture and porcelain. The chapel next to the house, built in 1922 and devoted to the Virgin Mercè, is decorated with frescoes by Josep Pey. From the same period are the modernist fountain and lake which enhance the estate's beauty.

Our estate is surrounded by 60 hectares of vineyards, where the various varieties of grape we use to produce the products grow.

In the year 2000, we invested heavily in modernising the machinery and the wine cellar, where our own cava is produced traditionally. We also have an area fitted out for maturing wine in oak barrels.

Along with traditional production methods, the wine cellar, which are 10 metres deep with a constant year-round temperature of 14º, guarantee the aroma, "perlage" and "bouquet" of our cavas and wines.
